Micronutrients play a key role in the normal hair follicle cycle and aid immensely in cellular turnover. After a thorough exam and covering your medical history, we help you decide which supplements are most effective for your specific needs. • Minoxidil

ILK

Are Intralesional Kenalog (ILK) injections effective for hair loss? Yes! In fact, IKL injections are a common treatment used in dermatology and are well established for many types of hair loss. In particular, ILK can halt shedding and stimulate hair regrowth for autoimmune-driven hair loss such as alopecia areata or lichen planopilaris. In addition, ILK is used successfully for other non-autoimmune hair loss such as active telogen effluvium or chemotherapy-induced alopecia. Is ILK the right option for you? Your provider at Springs Hair Restoration in Sandy Springs and Metro Atlanta is here to provide you with a transparent answer as to whether or not ILK injections are the right option for you. ILK is a safe and affordable option for many patients. The potential side effects of ILK include thinning of skin or hypopigmentation at the site of injection, but these are usually reversible with time.

Oral Treatments

Are oral treatments and oral medications for hair loss, hair growth, and hair regeneration effective? Yes! Spironolactone and Finasteride are two of the oral treatments we recommend at Springs Hair Restoration in Sandy Springs and Metro Atlanta.

  • Spironolactone is a low-dose blood pressure medication that has additional anti-androgen benefits. Spironolactone acts on the same receptors in hair follicles that cause shedding in androgenetic alopecia. It is beneficial in reducing shedding and promoting regrowth for some patients. Spironolactone is used in very low doses in hair loss treatment and is typically well-tolerated with minimal side effects.
  • Finasteride is an FDA-approved treatment for men with androgenetic alopecia. The safety profile is good, but it needs to be taken for a long period daily (chronic medication). You may be a candidate for this oral treatment.
  • Minoxidil (Rogaine in the topical form), is now gaining recognition and acceptance as an oral option for both males and females with many types of hair loss. This is a great option for patients who can’t commit to topical systems.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (Laser Hair Cap)

Is Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) effective for hair loss, hair growth, and hair regeneration? Yes! What is Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and how does it work to regrow hair?

1- LLLT is a non-surgical, FDA-approved treatment for hair loss in men and hair loss in women which use a low-level laser light to stimulate hair follicles and expedite hair growth.

2- LLLT produces a particular wavelength of light that can be absorbed by the molecules of the hair follicles and shifts the hairs into the growth stage.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) technology works by:

1- Stimulating stem cells in the scalp to encourage new hair regrowth

2- Increasing ATP production energizes hair follicles metabolic process to expedite hair growth

3- Increasing blood flow to hair follicles, providing oxygen and nutrients to hairs for thicker and more durable hair shafts

4- Increasing melanin production in hair follicles, darkening gray hairs

5- Stimulating the sebaceous glands for silkier-looking hair

Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) works for many forms of hair loss to speed up and support healthy hair growth. The hair cap design looks similar to a baseball cap but is embedded with low-level laser technology on the inner surface of the hat. It is worn as a cap for at least 30 minutes each day.
