FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is a process where a single graft is harvested from the back of the scalp using a 1mm hand-held punch device. The harvested grafts are then transplanted to the desired area of the scalp, eyebrows, or bread. FUE is a very meticulous surgery. Each hair follicle is uprooted and re-homed with extra care.
At Springs Hair Restoration we are experts in several techniques such as removing a portion of skin that bears hair from a donor area. This graft is then transplanted into the recipient area, which is punched out to accommodate the graft, this is known as the Punch Technique. Another technique that we use removes the hair follicles with a wand, it extracts them with suction. We then use a special tool that makes pinpoint incisions and implants the follicles at the same time.
FUE is a hair transplant method with many benefits:

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant) is the process where a single strip of hair is harvested from the back of the head. It is considered as the traditional strip method or linear harvesting for hair restoration. The hair there is most resistant to falling because the receptors for hormones are unique (that’s why even in severe male pattern hair loss, the back of your scalp called the occipital hairline is preserved).
The harvested donor site is then meticulously approximated to minimize scars. Hair follicles are harvested from the donor strip. This is a meticulous process that needs an expert team. The hair follicles are then dissected while preserving their units, which is a very technical process performed under special microscopes. Our physicians supervise all these steps to ensure the hair follicles are healthy and have the highest chances of survival. Only healthy and intact hair follicles count. The consultation was excellent, but I felt too many people between me and the surgeon performing the procedure. I wanted that direct interaction to ensure I got what I wanted in my design. Dr. Zach's professionalism was evident at my initial consultation, where he spent time discussing the procedure, pertinent research, and most importantly the realist expectations; he did not "over sell" the procedure. He also is the only practitioner that I am aware of who uses a specific anesthesia technique that dramatically decreased the procedural discomfort. He was very thorough during the procedure, covering all of the necessary areas. I highly recommend him and his staff without reservations!
