Both Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) are established surgical techniques used in modern hair restoration. Neither method is universally better—the right option depends on donor characteristics, graft requirements, hairstyle preferences, and long-term planning.
FUE is a minimally invasive hair transplant technique in which individual follicular units are harvested directly from the donor area and transplanted into areas of thinning or loss. Because follicles are removed one at a time, FUE avoids a linear incision and allows for flexible donor harvesting. FUE is often preferred by patients who wear shorter hairstyles or want a discreet donor area.
