Let’s first talk about the function of EXOSOMES. EXOSOMES are substances obtained from inside the diffrentiated cells, usually from human placenta. they undergo a process of purification then are kept frozen in liquid form until used. EXOSOMES are involved in signals communication. They can travel to the target cells and deliver its content signaling cells to make hair follicles. I use them in a variety of alopecia’s, weather be it male pattern baldness or female hair thinning. I have found it to be an excellent treatment, alone or with Plasma Growth Factors for hair regeneration. Exosomes have higher concentration and greater variety of bio active molecules. They are extremely small in size therefore; greater numbers can be used in one treatment which lead to massive increase in growth factors leading to hair growth. In addition, I have used EXOSOMES in conjunction with surgery to increase survival and growth of graft. I have also used EXOSOMES in scarring alopecia with good results. I have for a long time been skeptical and reluctant to use EXOSOMES on my patients, but three years ago I had the opportunity to use it on myself, and I was ecstatic with the results I got. I have shared my experience with my colleagues who had used it on their patients and had similar results. I found EXOSOMES easier to be used on patients than Plasma Growth Factors, it also leads to quicker and longer lasting results.
EXOSOMES are regulated by the FDA, but to be an FDA approved. They have to undergo an extensive clinical trial therefore it is not yet approved; however, we have been using it off label with great results. I have not seen any side effects except minimal bruising at the site of injection.
So, in brief, what is the difference between Plasma Growth Factors and EXOSOMES?
Plasma Growth Factors are obtained from a patient's own blood, centrifuged to extract the growth factors, then injected into patients’ scalp. EXOSOMES signal the cells to make hair follicles or to improve hair thinning and make the hair grow longer and thicker. EXOSOMES are more expensive than Plasma Growth Factors, but it works quicker, so its effects are more noticeable and last longer. I usually use them in conjunction for maximal results.
